"Betty’s Room” is the first of a series of films that focus on the lives of women artists. Betty is an outsider artist based in Chicago who lives in a room that is not only her home but also an art installation that she has been working for many years. Despite her life revolving around this project, she never intends to show it to the outside world; neither has she ever pursued a career as an artist. Betty is a recluse but not isolated. She has a net of friends that gravitate around her idyllic life, helping her to collect materials for this room, or just hanging out at her place while she is cutting, sewing, and transforming images and objects as they were pieces of a domestic scenery puzzle. This film is a short commentary on the pop-extravagant-beautiful-strange and a tad gauche world that she lives in.
